How to commission a painting

A commissioned panting is a unique piece of art created to meet your individual requirements.

Are you are looking to buy a piece of original art but can’t quite find the perfect piece? Maybe it’s a certain size painting you are after, or you are looking for a landscape painting of a particular location.

It could be a perfect gift for someone special, or maybe one of my artworks has already caught your eye but it’s not quite the right size or colour.

Have you thought about commissioning a painting? It’s not as expensive as you might imagine.

When you commission a painting, the artwork will be designed and planned to meet needs: Layout, style, size, subject and budget.

Commissioning a painting is not as expensive as you might think, prices start from £180 for a small painting.

How does it work?

  • Contact me

  • Describe your requirements, the subject the size of the painting, the amount you wish to spend on your perfect artwork and the timescale.

  • I will put together a commission request for with all the details and price for the painting.

  • Once the commission has been agreed you pay a deposit, you will receive regular updates of the progress

  • When the painting has been completed you will pay the balance and the artwork will be dispatched to you. (UK shipping is always free there of course an additional charge for international shipping).

Recent Commission Reviews

Summer in the Walled Garden

I recently commissioned a painting from Colette having already bought a previous painting from her. After a couple of emails to discuss the details, Colette informed me the painting was nearly complete and sent pictures of her work. Even at this point she asked if I was happy with the painting.  I was very pleased with how simple and efficient the process was and I am very happy with the finished painting. G.C. UK

Moonlight Garden

Just to thank you again for the lovely painting you delivered to me. Might I also compliment you on your commission process. You responded quickly to my messages and listened to what I was after before making recommendations and producing the finished article. The painting was well wrapped and delivered in good time ahead of the tight deadline I had set you. A very good service all round. J.D.

On ‘Wave Energy’, acrylic on canvas by Colette Baumback

Disturbance at the water’s edge,

disturbance through my body

with the bending of light.

Longitudinal energy -

sea-spray hair, salty skin,

the swell the surge,

the smell of algae,

seaweed, urgency,

the relentless motion

of a roller a comber,

the ferocity velocity

tingling spiritual power -

and it’s breaking it’s breaking

the ache the beauty

oh the moody magic,

the lunar magic of you.

We are thrilled with the painting, which has captured the essence of Corfu.
The painting is a joy to look at, and we love, the detail of the spring flowers
and the trunks of the olive trees.
You are a very talented artist, who included everything we asked for, and we really
appreciate that you took on such a large commission, with all the hard work that
must have entailed.

Pine Cottage

Colette produced the most magical painting of our cottage. Every time we look at it we smile as it is almost alive with the spirit of the place that she has captured so beautifully. Thank you, Colette for such a gem of a painting to hang on our wall. P&N UK

Wye Downs

I opened the picture and the first words I said to myself... ?

Celebrations SOLD

I am sure most of us have had the problem at some time, of finding a suitable present to give to celebrate a special occasion or anniversary. While I was pondering this question in connection with the 30th anniversary of my friends Julie and Richard, the answer came to me when one day when I met Colette in my neighbourhood. She was already known to me as a talented floral artist, whose work had given me pleasure. Why not commission a painting to their taste which they could enjoy as a permanent reminder of their special day?

There followed a fascinating time discussing exactly what form the painting should take with regard to content , colour, shape and size. I could hardly wait to view the finished article! During this time it was a comfort to know that Colette was always on the end of the phone with a sympathetic ear, ever willing to discuss any queries.

Colette fulfilled her commission perfectly and on time and at a very reasonable charge. The painting is now giving my friends daily pleasure and I look forward to repeating the experience should another suitable occasion arise.  Angela
