The beauty of nature is a constant source of wonder, from the untamed hedgerows of the countryside, to cottage and flower gardens. Nature is my faithful muse and my constant motivation, the challenge to capture the essence and beauty of nature is a never-ending task.
My intention is to give the viewer the impression that they are in the painting and often place grasses and flowers in the fore ground to give an exaggerated perspective.
I paint with a palette knife and the textural quality of my work is a key feature. The texture (impasto) also brings the painting to life and creates a structural quality to the work, giving a more three-dimensional feel and the viewer a sense of being in that place.
