I was thinking how extraordinary it is that most of my recent paintings are pink and green, I often wonder what influences my colour choice. Ok I paint nature and flowers, therefore green is a constant companion, I know that the subject dictates the colour to a certain extent but what else influences colour choice. Maybe I am overthinking this, and the simple explanation is pink and its rosy comrades happened to be left lying around on the easel anyway so idleness prompted me to produce a series of pink paintings!
I am aware that I tend to get immersed in colour themes, exploring the shades and tones of a certain hue to the extreme. I find myself seeking out a particular colour searching for it all around me it’s like trainspotting but with colours. I even find myself subconsciously dressing in the particular colour sometimes; it’s no coincidence that I have just bought a pink floral dress!
I don’t know the reason but right now I am immersed in clouds of plush pink I enjoying the exploration of rosy blushes, cotton candy ,cameo pink and pink lace …to name a few and for the moment Pink is king or queen.
